Mr. Chuck Smith, retired in 2002 after completing 35 years of meritorious service with the Chicago Police Department. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Smith was serving as the Deputy Chief of Patrol, in which capacity he was responsible for overseeing all uniformed field operations in five districts of the City. During his career with the Chicago Police Department Mr. Smith held a number of important positions including those of Assistant Superintendent, Detective Commander, and Commanding Officer of the Property Crimes Division. Mr. Smith has a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University and is a graduate of the Northwestern University Traffic Institute Police Administration Program.
Since retiring from the Chicago Police Department, Mr. Smith has worked as a part-time Principal Associate with our firm in which case he has served as an assessor and oral interview panel member in more than two dozen promotional examinations for police personnel.

Robert A. Sturlini , has a long and distinguished career in municipal law enforcement. In 2000, he retired as the Chief of Police in DesPlaines, Illinois, a position he had held for six years. He began his career with that department as a patrol officer in 1967. He also served briefly as Chief of Public Safety for Oakton Community College. Mr. Sturlini has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Lewis University and is a graduate of the Administrative Officer’s Course at the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Sturlini has served as an assessor in dozens of police department assessment centers and has conducted background investigations for our firm in connection with numerous executive search projects.

Mr. Carl Bergman, retired in 1988 as the Deputy Chief of the Evergreen Park, Illinois, Police Department after completing 22 years of police service with that agency. Since that time, Mr. Bergman has worked regularly as a staff consultant with our firm and has been involved in many of the police studies we have conducted, in addition to serving as an assessor and oral board member. Mr. Bergman has taken numerous courses in Police Administration and Management and is a graduate of the 116th Class FBI National Academy.
